How Kitsuneko Came to Be (Part I) —The Golden Fox and the Small Treasure

Kitsuneko were not born simply as an animal motif.
Within their form lies a quiet overlap
with a scene I will never forget.

The Golden Fox I Saw That Night

One night, while I was carrying my daughter,
I had a dream—gentle and mysterious.

It was the grounds of a quiet shrine.
There stood a large, beautiful fox,
its golden fur softly glowing with light.

The fox gently wrapped itself around
a small young girl,
protecting her as if to shield her from the world.

The sight was reassuring, warm,
and somehow deeply familiar.
Even after I awoke,
that image remained vividly in my heart.

The Source of That Familiar Feeling

As I reflected on the presence of the fox,
I felt a resemblance—
as though I had known it before.

Perhaps it was
a small treasure that still sleeps quietly
within my heart even now.

Two Beings, and One Flower

Time passed, and my daughter was born.
She is a small being with a gentle smile,
like a flower that had descended from the sky.

Within me,
the golden fox I met in my dream
and the daughter now by my side—

these two presences feel as though
they are connected by an invisible thread.

One exists to let hope bloom.
The other, to let flowers fall gently from the heavens.

Together,
to bloom a single flower.

The Meaning Woven into Kitsuneko

The form of Kitsuneko was born
from overlapping the images
received from these two beings.

The fox is a symbol of protection and guidance.
To that, I added
the gentleness of a flower
and gemstone-like, shimmering eyes.

Kitsuneko are beings meant
to softly embrace those they encounter
and let flowers bloom quietly within the heart.

As a Small Guardian

That is why Kitsuneko are not merely dolls.

They are small guardians,
born from cherished memories and heartfelt emotions.

And within their gemstone-like eyes,
an ancient memory lies sleeping.

Next time,
I will tell that story.

All creations woven by sanchelica
carry fragments of this story within them.
