心に花を咲かせる、天然石と小さな精霊キツネコの物語

 

  • フランス・パリのアート誌『République des Arts』第6号に掲載されました

    このたび、フランス・パリで発行されているアート誌

    『République des Arts（レピュブリック・デザール）』第6号に、sanchelicaを2ページにわたり掲載していただきました。

    『République des Arts』は、フランスをはじめとする国内外のアーティストや作品を紹介する季刊の高級アート誌です。

    パリを中心に、書店やキオスク、美術館、文化施設などで販売・配布されています。

    今回、sanchelicaの作品を2ページにわたりご紹介いただきました。

    そして嬉しいことに、掲載ページだけでなく、目次にもキツネコたちの写真を掲載していただいています。

    実際にフランスから届いた雑誌を手に取り、自分の作品が誌面になっている姿を見たときは、本当に嬉しく、感慨深いものがありました。

    ▪天然石に宿った精霊

    今回の誌面では、フランソワーズ・イカール氏より、

    「天然石に宿った精霊」

    と題して、sanchelicaとキツネコについての評論を寄せていただきました。

    作品の造形や天然石、色彩だけではなく、キツネコが生まれた物語や「吉音呼」という名前に込めた意味、そして作品を通して私が大切にしている想いまで、とても丁寧に読み取っていただいています。

    自分の中にあるものを作品として形にし、物語として紡いできたものが、遠く離れたフランスでこのように受け取られ、言葉として残していただけたことを、とても嬉しく思います。

    特に評論の最後に綴られていた、

    「人は誰もがすでに自分の中に前へ進むための力を持っていること、内なる光や忘れかけていた希望、優しさや強さを思い出させてくれる存在なのです。」

    という言葉が、とても心に残りました。

    sanchelicaが作品を通して届けたいと願ってきたものと重なる、大切な言葉です。

    Sanchelica

    天然石に宿った精霊

    Sanchelica の作品は、「Kitsuneko（キツネコ）」と名付けられた、小さく愛らしい子猫のような精霊たちの姿をしています。しかし、その愛らしい外見の奥には、彫刻、日本文化、そして天然石が持つ象徴性を融合させた、豊かな物語世界が広がっています。

    それぞれの作品は、見る人を静かに見守る守護の存在として生み出されています。

    一体一体の Kitsuneko は、それぞれ異なる個性を持つ存在です。体には繊細なパールや金属の花飾りがあしらわれ、瞳にはスワロフスキーとガラスを使用し、宝石のような瞳を表現しています。

    これらの石は単なる装飾ではありません。古くから天然石は、安らぎ、勇気、創造性、心の守護など、さまざまな象徴的・精神的な力を宿すものと考えられてきました。Sanchelica はそのイメージをもとに、一体ごとに異なる性格や役割を与えています。

    例えば、緑色の天然石を宿した黄色い Kitsuneko は、喜び、光、そして前向きなエネルギーを自然に想起させます。日本文化において黄色は生命力や幸福を象徴する色でもあります。額に輝く第三の目は、目に見える世界を超えた内なる目覚めを示し、鑑賞者に物事の本質へ目を向けるよう静かに語りかけています。

    青い Kitsuneko の額にはラリマーが使用されています。この石は古くから平穏、誠実、勇気を象徴するとされてきました。同時に、この青みは日本で高貴な色とされた深い紫「紫（むらさき）」をも連想させます。

    そのため作品はより神秘的な雰囲気を帯び、人が人生の中で求める高い理想や願いに寄り添い、答えを与えるのではなく、静かに歩みを支える存在として描かれています。

    シリーズ全体を通じて、多彩な色彩の世界が展開されています。白、赤、ピンク、グレー、黄色、青――それぞれの Kitsuneko は、ときに花々に囲まれながら、繊細で愛らしい存在感を放っています。

    色彩や天然石、装飾の組み合わせは一体ごとに異なり、それぞれが異なる感情や心の在り方を象徴しているかのようです。

    しかし、Sanchelica 作品の真の魅力は、その背後にある物語にあります。

    作家が紡いだ世界では、Kitsuneko は長い年月、人々の歴史を見守り続けてきた石たち自身が「人々の心に花を咲かせたい」と祈り、その祈りに応えるように誕生した精霊です。

    人々の喜び、悲しみ、希望を静かに見守り続けた石たちは、ただ一つ、「人々の心に花を咲かせたい」と願いを抱きます。そして、その祈りから誕生したのが Kitsuneko であり、彼らは優しさを届ける静かな使者となったのです。

    その名前にも、この使命が込められています。

    「吉音呼」と書いて「Kitsuneko」と読み、「吉音」は幸運や吉兆をもたらす音を、「呼」は呼び起こす、目覚めさせることを意味しています。

    つまり Kitsuneko とは、人々の心に幸せな響きを呼び覚まし、人生の道のりを静かに寄り添いながら歩む存在なのです。

    この物語が、作品に深い精神性を与えています。

    Kitsuneko は世界を変えたり、不思議な力を授けたりする存在ではありません。

    ただ、人は誰もがすでに自分の中に前へ進むための力を持っていること、内なる光や忘れかけていた希望、優しさや強さを思い出させてくれる存在なのです。

    天然石はその内なる記憶の象徴となり、Kitsuneko はそれを見守る守護者となっています。

    そして、彼らの物語は使命を終えることで完結します。

    共に過ごした人の心に花が咲いたとき、Kitsuneko は自らが生まれた天然石へと帰っていきます。

    その石には彼らの祈りの記憶が宿り、持ち主のもとで静かな守護の象徴として永く寄り添い続けるのです。

    今回の掲載を通して、改めて自分が作品を通して届けたいものを見つめる機会にもなりました。

    キツネコは、誰かに何かを与えるための存在ではなく、その人の中にすでにある光や優しさ、強さを思い出すきっかけとなる存在。

    これからも、一体一体のキツネコに物語と祈りを込めながら、大切に生み出していきたいと思います。

    そしていつか、sanchelicaの作品が海を越え、世界のどこかで誰かの心に小さな花を咲かせることができたら、とても嬉しいです。

    Featured in Issue No. 6 of République des Arts, a Paris Art Magazine

    I am delighted to share that sanchelica has been featured across two pages in Issue No. 6 of République des Arts, an art magazine published in Paris, France.

    République des Arts is a quarterly art magazine that introduces artists and artworks from France and around the world. It is sold and distributed primarily in Paris through bookstores, kiosks, museums, cultural institutions, and other venues.

    In this issue, sanchelica and my works are presented across a two-page spread.

    To my great joy, photographs of the Kitsuneko also appear in the magazine’s table of contents.

    When the magazine finally arrived from France and I held it in my hands, seeing my own creations printed on its pages was deeply moving. It was a moment of genuine happiness and reflection for me.

    ▪Spirits Dwelling Within Natural Stones

    For this feature, Françoise IcART contributed a critique of sanchelica and Kitsuneko under the title:

    “Spirits Dwelling Within Natural Stones.”

    Her words explore not only the forms, natural stones, and colors of my works, but also the story behind the birth of Kitsuneko, the meaning contained within their Japanese name, “吉音呼,” and the feelings and values I hope to convey through my creations.

    I have spent years giving form to something that began within me and weaving it into stories. Knowing that this world has reached someone far away in France, been understood in this way, and preserved in words means more to me than I can express.

    One passage at the end of the critique particularly stayed with me:

    “They remind us that each of us already possesses the strength to move forward, helping us rediscover the inner light, forgotten hope, kindness, and strength that have always been within us.”

    These words deeply resonate with what I have always hoped to convey through sanchelica.

    Sanchelica

    Spirits Dwelling Within Natural Stones

    Sanchelica’s creations take the form of small, endearing, kitten-like spirits known as “Kitsuneko.” Yet beneath their charming appearance lies a rich narrative world that brings together sculpture, Japanese culture, and the symbolism of natural stones.

    Each work is created as a guardian presence, quietly watching over those who encounter it.

    Every Kitsuneko is a unique being with its own individual character. Their bodies are adorned with delicate pearls and metallic floral ornaments, while Swarovski crystals and glass are used to create jewel-like eyes.

    These stones are far more than mere decoration. Since ancient times, natural stones have been associated with various symbolic and spiritual qualities, such as serenity, courage, creativity, and protection of the heart. Drawing upon these associations, Sanchelica gives each Kitsuneko its own personality and role.

    For example, a yellow Kitsuneko bearing a green natural stone naturally evokes joy, light, and positive energy. In Japanese culture, yellow is also a color associated with vitality and happiness. The radiant third eye upon its forehead represents an inner awakening that transcends the visible world, quietly inviting the viewer to look beyond appearances and toward the true essence of things.

    The blue Kitsuneko bears larimar upon its forehead. This stone has long been associated with tranquility, sincerity, and courage. At the same time, its blue tones evoke murasaki, the deep purple traditionally regarded as a noble color in Japan.

    This gives the work an even more mysterious presence. Rather than offering answers, the Kitsuneko is portrayed as a quiet companion that stays close to the higher ideals and wishes people seek throughout their lives, gently supporting them along their path.

    Throughout the series unfolds a world rich in color: white, red, pink, gray, yellow, and blue. Each Kitsuneko radiates a delicate and endearing presence, sometimes surrounded by flowers.

    The combination of colors, natural stones, and ornamentation differs from one Kitsuneko to another, as though each one symbolizes a different emotion or state of the heart.

    Yet the true appeal of Sanchelica’s work lies in the story behind these creations.

    In the world woven by the artist, Kitsuneko are spirits born from the prayers of stones themselves—stones that have silently watched over human history for countless years and came to wish:

    “We want flowers to bloom in people’s hearts.”

    Having quietly witnessed humanity’s joy, sorrow, and hope, the stones came to hold this single wish. From that prayer, the Kitsuneko were born, becoming gentle and silent messengers of kindness.

    Their mission is also embedded within their name.

    Their name is written in Japanese as “吉音呼” and read as “Kitsuneko.” “吉音” (kitsune) refers to a sound that brings good fortune or auspicious signs, while “呼” (ko) means to call forth or awaken.

    In other words, Kitsuneko are beings who awaken a joyful resonance within people’s hearts and quietly walk beside them throughout the journey of life.

    This story gives the works a profound spiritual dimension.

    Kitsuneko are not beings who change the world or bestow mysterious powers upon people.

    Rather, they remind us that each of us already possesses the strength to move forward, helping us rediscover the inner light, forgotten hope, kindness, and strength that have always been within us.

    Natural stones become symbols of this inner memory, while Kitsuneko serve as their guardians.

    And their story reaches its completion when their mission comes to an end.

    When a flower finally blooms in the heart of the person with whom a Kitsuneko has shared its journey, the Kitsuneko returns to the natural stone from which it was born.

    Within that stone remains the memory of its prayers, and it continues to stay quietly beside its owner for years to come as a symbol of protection.

    Sanchelica’s creations transcend the boundaries of small sculptural works and become something that might be described as contemporary fairy tales.

    Through gentle forms, beautiful colors, and poetic storytelling, the artist offers viewers an opportunity to rediscover the precious light that exists within themselves.

    Even when that light seems to have disappeared, it has never truly been lost.

    It continues to shine quietly within.

    ▪Continuing to Let Flowers Bloom in the Heart

    Being featured in this magazine also gave me an opportunity to reflect once again on what I truly hope to convey through my work.

    Kitsuneko are not beings that exist to give something to someone.

    Rather, they are beings that offer a small opportunity to remember the light, kindness, and strength that already exist within each person.

    I hope to continue creating each Kitsuneko with great care, weaving a story and a prayer into every one.

    And someday, if the works of sanchelica can cross the sea and make even one small flower bloom in someone’s heart somewhere in the world, nothing would make me happier.

  • キツネコ「ファーラ」とラリマーにまつわる、ひとつのシンクロニシティ

    ファーラは、
    絵物語『海いろのキツネコと こころのはな』のモデルとなったキツネコです。

    海のようにやさしく、
    静かに心へ寄り添う存在として生まれました。

    そしてそのはじまりは、
    私が娘を妊娠していた頃までさかのぼります。

    妊娠中、ある占いの場で、

    「お腹の中の子は、どんな石のイメージがしますか？」

    と尋ねられたことがありました。

    その瞬間、理由もなく浮かんだ石がありました。

    ラリマーです。

    正直、自分でも驚きました。

    ラリマーは「きれいだな」と思ったことはあっても、
    それまで身につけたいと強く感じたことは一度もなかった石だったからです。

    なぜその石が浮かんだのか、
    そのときの私は説明できませんでした。

    ただ、

    「この子はラリマーみたいだ」

    という感覚だけが、静かに残りました。

    ラリマー

    娘が生まれたあと、
    私はその感覚を思い出しながら、ひとつのキツネコをつくりました。

    娘を守る存在として。
    そばに寄り添う存在として。

    キツネコの額には、
    ラリマーと、娘の誕生石であるサファイアを宿しました。

    それは意図的な意味づけというよりも、
    「そうしなければならない」と感じた、
    ごく自然な選択でした。

    名前は、ファーラ。

    娘の名前の一文字である「花（ファ）」と、
    サンスクリット語で「守る」「保護する」を意味する pāla を組み合わせ、
    “花を守る存在”という意味を込めて名付けました。

    当時は、それ以上の理由を深く考えていたわけではありません。

    ただ、そう在るべきだと思ったのです。

    けれど後になって、私はひとつの事実を知りました。

    ラリマーという石の名前は、
    発見者のひとりであるミゲル・メンデスが、
    娘の名前「ラリッサ」と、
    スペイン語で海を意味する「Mar（マール）」を組み合わせて
    名付けたものだということを。

    娘の名前。
    海のようなやさしさ。
    守る存在としての祈り。

    私が直感のままに重ねてきたファーラの物語と、
    ラリマーという石がもともと持っていた由来が、
    あとから静かに、しかし驚くほど正確に重なっていました。

    意味を知ってから選んだのではありません。

    先に感覚があり、
    行動があり、
    そのずっと後で、石の物語を知ったのです。

    娘のために生まれたキツネコは、
    気づけば、ラリマーという石がもともと持っていた祈りと
    どこか深い場所で繋がっていました。

    だから今では、
    ファーラは私が“作った”存在というより、

    最初からそこにいて、
    静かに私を待っていた存在だったのかもしれないと思っています。

    A Synchronicity Between the Kitsuneko “Phala” and Larimar

    Phala is the Kitsuneko who became the model for the illustrated story
    The Ocean-Colored Kitsuneko and the Flower of the Heart.

    She was born as a gentle presence,
    quietly staying close to the human heart like the sea itself.

    And her story began long before she was completed —
    back when I was pregnant with my daughter.

    During my pregnancy,
    someone once asked me at a fortune-telling session:

    “What kind of gemstone comes to mind when you think of the child in your womb?”

    At that exact moment,
    one stone appeared in my mind for no clear reason.

    Larimar.

    Honestly, I was surprised myself.

    I had always thought Larimar was beautiful,
    but I had never felt strongly drawn to wear or own it before.

    At the time, I could not explain why that stone had surfaced in my mind.

    Only one feeling quietly remained:

    “This child feels like Larimar.”

    After my daughter was born,
    I remembered that feeling and created a Kitsuneko.

    A being to protect her.
    A presence to stay beside her.

    On the Kitsuneko’s forehead,
    I placed Larimar together with Sapphire, my daughter’s birthstone.

    It was not an intentional symbolic choice.

    It simply felt like something that had to be done.

    Her name became “Phala.”

    It combines the syllable “Fa,” taken from the kanji for flower in my daughter’s name,
    and the Sanskrit word pāla, meaning “protector” or “guardian.”

    Together, the name carries the meaning:

    “A being who protects flowers.”

    At the time, I was not thinking deeply about symbolism or meaning.

    It simply felt right.

    But later, I learned something unexpected.

    The gemstone name “Larimar” was created by one of its discoverers, Miguel Méndez,
    by combining his daughter’s name, “Larissa,”
    with the Spanish word mar, meaning “sea.”

    A daughter’s name.
    The gentleness of the sea.
    A prayer to protect.

    The story I had instinctively woven into Phala
    quietly — and almost unbelievably — overlapped with the original story carried within Larimar itself.

    I did not choose the stone after learning its meaning.

    First came the feeling.
    Then the action.

    Only much later did I discover the story carried within the stone itself.

    The Kitsuneko born for my daughter
    was already connected, somewhere deep beneath words,
    to the prayer Larimar had carried from the beginning.

    And so now, I sometimes feel that Phala was never simply something I created.

    Perhaps she had always existed somewhere quietly —
    waiting for me to find her.

    Born from quiet prayers woven together across time,
    Phala is the sea-colored Kitsuneko created from Larimar.

  • 幼い頃に夢中になったユニコと、学生時代に出会ったペイ・フォワード

    私が幼い頃、理由もわからないまま

    何度も何度も繰り返し観ていたアニメがありました。

    手塚治虫さんの『ユニコ』です。

    当時の私はただ、

    ユニコの可愛さや、ユニコーンへ変わる瞬間の美しさに

    心を奪われていただけで、

    物語の意味まで深く考えていたわけではありませんでした。

    でも、大人になってふと振り返ると、

    あの作品は 言葉よりも先に「心」で理解していたのだと気づきます。

    純粋な子どもだったからこそ、

    光や優しさ、少しの哀しみといったテーマを

    そのまままっすぐに受け取っていたのかもしれません。

    あの頃の“好き”は、

    静かに私の心の奥に根を張り、

    気づかないうちに

    今のsanchelicaという世界へと続く道をつくっていたんだ

    と、今では思うのです。

    ✧ 幼い私の心に残った物語 ― ユニコ

    ユニコは、白い角を持つ小さなユニコーン。

    その存在は、そばにいるだけで人の心を優しくあたため、

    幸せを運ぶ不思議な力を持っています。

    けれどその無償の優しさは、

    「努力もせずに人間を幸せにしてしまう」と神々に誤解され、

    ユニコは遠い世界へと追放されてしまいます。

    見知らぬ時代、見知らぬ場所。

    ユニコはその地で出会った人たちの悲しみや孤独に寄り添い、

    小さな魔法と優しさで、

    そっと心に光を戻していきます。

    しかし、

    ひとつの心を救うたびに記憶は消され、

    また新しい世界へ旅立つ運命。

    優しさはときに孤独で、

    それでも光を届け続ける——

    そんな切なくて美しい物語です。

    子どもの私はただ“なんとなく好き”で観ていましたが、

    今思うとその感性は

    sanchelicaの「悲しみを光に変える」世界観と

    まっすぐにつながっていました。

    ✧ 学生時代に価値観を揺らした映画 ― ペイ・フォワード

    もうひとつ、私の心に深く残っている作品があります。

    学生時代に観た『ペイ・フォワード』です。

    物語の主人公は11歳の少年・トレバー。

    彼が思いついたのは、

    とてもシンプルだけれど世界を変えるアイデアでした。

    「誰かに優しさをもらったら、

    自分は別の3人にその優しさを返す」

    ひとつの優しさが三つへ、

    その三つがまた三つへと広がっていく。

    それは派手な奇跡ではなく、

    ただの“ひとつの行動”が

    知らない誰かの人生を救ってしまうという、

    静かで確かな真実を描いた物語です。

    この優しさの循環に触れたとき、

    私ははっきりと

    「私も、こんなやさしい世界を信じたい」

    と思いました。

    ✧ 二つの物語が一本の線になった瞬間

    ユニコが教えてくれたもの。

    それは 哀しみを光に変える力。

    ペイ・フォワードが教えてくれたもの。

    それは 優しさは巡り、世界を少しずつ明るくする力。

    この二つの物語は

    まるで違う時期に出会った作品なのに、

    私の中ではゆっくりと、

    ひとつのテーマに溶け合っていました。

    そして気がつけば、

    そのテーマはまさに

    sanchelicaの魂そのものになっていたのです。

    キツネコに宿る光。

    天然石の記憶。

    悲しみを花に変える祈り。

    誰かの心へそっと灯す小さな優しさ。

    それらはすべて、

    幼い日と学生時代、

    あの瞬間たちが私に残してくれた“光の欠片”。

    ✧ いま、私は自分の物語を形にしている

    sanchelicaの世界づくりは、

    特別な才能や突然のひらめきから生まれたものではありません。

    幼い私が心で感じていたもの。

    学生時代に胸を揺さぶられたもの。

    人生の中で静かに積み重なってきた感性。

    The Unico I Loved as a Child, and Pay It Forward I Discovered as a Student

    When I was little, there was an animated film I watched over and over again without even knowing why.
    It was Osamu Tezuka’s Unico.

    At the time, I was simply captivated by Unico’s cuteness and by the beauty of the moment he transformed into a unicorn.
    I wasn’t thinking deeply about the meaning of the story.

    But when I look back now as an adult, I realize something.
    I had understood that story with my heart before I ever had the words for it.

    Perhaps because I was still a pure child,
    I was able to receive its themes—light, kindness, and even a touch of sorrow—directly and honestly.

    The things I “loved” back then quietly took root deep within my heart.
    Without my noticing, they were already creating the path that would one day lead to the world of sanchelica.

    Now, I can see that clearly.

    ✧ The Story That Lingered in My Childhood Heart — Unico

    Unico is a small unicorn with a white horn.

    Just by being near someone, he gently warms their heart and carries a mysterious power that brings happiness.

    But his unconditional kindness is misunderstood by the gods as “making humans happy without effort,”
    and so Unico is banished to distant worlds.

    それが、すべてのキツネコのはじまりでした。

    身体には、ショートウェービーモヘアとフェイクファーを使用。

    光の角度でやわらかく揺れ、

    “風に触れて生きているような毛先”になるよう素材を選び抜きました。

    ルチアの瞳は、キツネコ制作における最大のこだわり。

    ガラスドームの奥に貴和クリスタルを忍ばせ、

    光を層で閉じ込めるように角度と奥行きを計算しました。

    角度を変えるたびに色が変わる瞳は、

    まるで心の奥に灯りがともるように輝きます。

    長くつくられた耳は「人々の小さな心の声を聴くため」。

    身体と尻尾には花の刺繍をほどこし、

    “心に花を咲かせるキツネコ”としての象徴を持たせました。

    刺繍のラインにもこだわっています。

    Luchia was born from a single rough sketch.

    Her form was still faint and undefined,

    yet it felt as though she whispered,

    “I want to be born here.”

    My hand moved naturally, guided by a quiet light.

    A small spirit with gentle radiance and jewel-like eyes—

    that was the very beginning of the Kitsuneko.

    ✧ Fur & Materials

    Her body is crafted from short-wavy mohair and soft faux fur.

    I chose each material carefully so that her fur would sway softly with the light,

    as if touched by a gentle breeze.

    ✧ Gem-Like Eyes

    Luchia’s eyes are the greatest point of devotion in her creation.

    A crystal is set deep within a glass dome,

    with angles and depth calculated to hold the light in layered reflections.

    With every shift in angle, her eyes change color—

    glowing like a small flame quietly lit within the heart.

    ✧ A Body That Wears Flowers

    Her long ears were shaped to “hear the small voices within people’s hearts.”

    Flowers embroidered on her body and tail symbolize

    her role as a Kitsuneko who helps flowers bloom in the heart.

    The placement of each stitch was chosen

    so the flow of light would appear to bloom into flowers.

    ✧ The Emerald on Her Forehead

    Luchia carries a tri-layered emerald charm on her forehead—

    button-cut, tumbled, and loose-cut stones wrapped in golden wire,

    forming threads of light.

    Emerald represents hope, love, healing, and protection,

    and is known as the stone of Archangel Raphael.

    It was the perfect emblem for the very first Kitsuneko of sanchelica.

    ✧ Proof of a Gem-Born Spirit

    Scattered rhinestones across her body shine like tiny stars,

    representing the fragments of the gem from which she was born.

    ✧ A Life Born Through Trial and Error

    Throughout her creation, there were moments when I almost gave up.

    Uneven stitches, rough seams, hesitation.

    And yet—

    there came a moment when her eyes seemed to shine with life.

    As if a quiet voice said,

    “I want to be born.”

    That small wish guided my hands again.

    Every stitch, every flaw became a part of her living story.

    物作りは、昔から大好きでした。
    でも、手先が器用なわけではありません。
    キャベツの千切りも、未だに上手にできません。

    細かい作業は苦手で、技術的にも自信がなく、
    「私には無理かもしれない」
    そう思ったことは、一度や二度ではありません。

    それでも、私の中には
    どうしても形にしたい“世界”がありました。
    天然石に宿る祈りから生まれる、
    キツネコという存在。

    光や風がそっと花びらを揺らすような、
    宝石のように瞬く物語。
    その欠片をすくい上げて、
    キツネコとしてこの世界に迎えたかったのです。

    制作の途中で、何度も失敗しました。
    キツネコの瞳をつくるときに
    スワロフスキーがずれてしまったり、
    レジンに小さな気泡が入ってしまったり、
    ラインストーンが思うように輝かず、
    何度もやり直しました。

    けれど、そのたびに私は思い出します。
    「うまく作らなきゃ」よりも大切なのは、
    この子の中に
    “命の花”を咲かせる感覚だということを。

    ある日、当時一歳の娘が、
    私の作っているキツネコを見て、
    「にゃんにゃん」でも「かわいい」でもなく、
    満面の笑みで、まっすぐな声を響かせました。

    「キレイ！」

    その一言に、胸の奥がじんわりと温かくなりました。

    Not Perfect, But Made to Reach the Heart

    I have always loved making things.
    But I’ve never been particularly skillful with my hands.
    Even now, I still can’t shred cabbage neatly.

    I’m not good at delicate work, and I often lack confidence in my technical skills.
    There were many times—more than once or twice—when I thought,
    “Maybe this is beyond me.”

    And yet, inside me, there was a world I desperately wanted to give shape to.
    A being called Kitsuneko,
    born from prayers dwelling within natural gemstones.

    A story that shimmers like a jewel,
    where light and wind gently stir flower petals.
    I wanted to gather those fragments
    and welcome them into this world as Kitsuneko.

    During the creation process, I failed again and again.
    When crafting the eyes of a Kitsuneko,
    the Swarovski stones would slip out of place.
    Tiny air bubbles would appear in the resin.
    The rhinestones wouldn’t shine the way I imagined,
    and I would have to start over many times.

    But each time, I reminded myself of something important.
    More important than “making it perfectly”
    was the feeling of letting a flower of life bloom
    within this little being.

    One day, my daughter—who was one year old at the time—
    looked at the Kitsuneko I was creating.
    Not “kitty,” not “cute,”
    but with a radiant smile and a clear, honest voice, she said:

    “Beautiful.”

    At that single word, warmth slowly spread through my chest.
    It felt as if the feelings I had quietly carried for so long
    were gently affirmed.

    In that moment, I realized something.
    What matters in creating a piece isn’t skill alone.
    Sometimes, a person’s heartfelt intention
    can move others more deeply than technique ever could.
